About Austrian Power Grid
Austrian Power Grid (APG) is Austria's independent electricity grid operator, which controls and is responsible for the supra-regional electricity transmission grid. APG's infrastructure secures Austria's electricity supply and is thus the lifeline of Austria, its population and its companies. The APG grid covers a route length of about 3,400 km, which the company operates and maintains with a team of about 700 specialists and continuously adapts to the increasing requirements of the economy and society. The capacities of APG's electricity grid and the application of state-of-the-art technologies are the prerequisite for a sustainable, secure electricity supply in Austria, the achievement of climate and energy targets and the increasing electrification of society, business and industry.
With our digital platforms, we make their flexibilities available for electricity management. Employees develop the appropriate market products, master the physics and guarantee a secure and efficient electricity supply for Austria. With an investment volume of around 370 million euros for the expansion and conversion of the grid infrastructure in 2022, APG is giving the domestic economy a powerful boost. In total, APG will invest around 3.5 billion euros in grid expansion and conversion by 2032. This is around 19 percent of the total 18 billion euros that the e-economy will invest in grid infrastructure over the next ten years. In the Sustainable Brand Rating 2022, APG is voted number one in the supply infrastructure category for the third time in a row.
